| Artist Polly French
lives along the Deerfield River in Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts
where she raises wildflowers and watches birds - frequent subject
matters for her unique style of painting.
Ignoring "proper" technique, Polly
uses fingers, combs, pens and brushes, rubber and vegetable
stamps, fabric, collage, specialty papers - whatever it takes to
produce the desired painting. Her typical painting will have a
suggestive, soft background with a defined subject foreground. The
foreground images are often individually painted and collaged onto
the background. Polly, who has no formal art training, has painted
professionally for more than 35 years. Much of her work is made
into reproductions which she signs and mats to standard
frame-sized mats.
