Hedgie's

The
habañero pepper is what gives Hedgie’s its distinctively sweet
heat in our mild, medium, and hot varieties. The jars are color
coded so it’s easy to tell from a distance what’s what:

Green border means go ahead, it’s mild.

Yellow border means slow down and think about it ‘cause medium
does have a little kick to it!

Red means…well, you know what red means. From national defense
to traffic signals, red means stop and think, then dive right in
and enjoy the burn! It won’t kill you but it will make your
noggin’ sweat! Nuff said!
After
20 years of making this salsa for his family, Steve Nelson finally
caved in to the demands to make it a business. Lucky for him the
Franklin County CDC in Greenfield, Massachusetts, was available to
provide support, expertise, and a commercial kitchen in which to
start.
Hedgie
is the Nelson’s pet hedgehog. Steve’s kids actually came up
with the name of the salsa, and also test for heat (since hot to
Steve is a raw habañero, he is no longer qualified to judge
heat).
Hedgie’s
employs local people to work for a local company that buys local
produce whenever possible. |
